Aims

The course gives

- knowledge of central force motion,

- introduction to analytical mechanics,

- basic knowledge of special relativity,

- knowledge of fluids,

- basic knowledge of methods of numerical

computations.

Content

Central force motion. Rigid bodies: Eulers theorem, tensor of inertia, Eulers equations of motion with applications. Constraints and generalised coordinates. Lagranges equations. Theory of small oscillations. The theory of special relativity.

Laboratory exercises: Relativistic collisions. Harmonic oscillations. Coupled oscillations.

Computational assignment: Simulation of a physical system.

Instruction

Lectures, problem solving classes and practicals.

Assessment

Written examination at the end of the course. A report of the computational assignment. Participation in the laboratory exercises is compulsory.
