General provisions

The course is eligible for students attending the Master's Programme in the Humanities, specializing in Cultural Heritage and Sustainability.

Entry requirements

A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university, including at least 60 credits in conservation or a similar field of study. 30 credits in conservation at Master's level.

Learning outcomes

The student should, after completing the course, be able to

in terms of knowledge and understanding

• demonstrate advanced knowledge within a chosen field of research in the field of cultural heritage

regarding competence and skills

• identify and critically relate to research methods and current issues within the chosen field
• explain how different theories are used in the chosen field and how they relate to each other
• critically reflect on how research in the chosen field relates to the concept of sustainable development
• demonstrate the ability to in dialogue with different group, in both national and international contexts, to present, oral and in writing, one´s conclusions and the arguments on which these are based.

regarding judgement and approach

• demonstrate ability to identify needs for further development of one´s own knowledge and take responsibility for that development.

Content

The content of the course is specified in consultation with the program coordinator and course coordinator with reference to a particular profile of the master program.

Instruction

Tutoring, individual or in group. Seminars may also occur.

Assessment

The examination consists of a written assignment and an oral presentation of it.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
