Entry requirements

For the Master Programme in Pharmaceutical Modelling, at least 60 credits within the programme is required and passed. Participation in the other courses within the programme is required.

For single subject course, at the start of the course, have passed at least 240 credits of which at least 90 credits within pharmaceutical science with at least 15 credits on advanced level.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course the student will be able to:

  • independently seek, critically evaluate and compile relevant scientific literature for a defined project
  • plan a scientific study including delimiting a scientific problem, selecting appropriate methods and writing a project plan
  • seek, critically assess and analyse information as well as integrate and compile information in a scientific manner
  • practically carry out a scientific study and evaluate, interpret and document the results
  • individually and correctly present the study in writing and through oral presentations, using professional, scientific English
  • reflect on and discuss results and conclusions, in relation to other research within the pharmaceutical field
  • identify need for further studies within the research field.

Content

The course is comprised of an independent project where the knowledge from earlier completed courses is applied. The project is guided by a supervisor in close connection to ongoing projects in research or development. The course is intended to deepen the student's knowledge of scientific theory and research methodology.

The student will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained from previous courses. The work should illuminate the connections between education, research and development to form a bridge to future professional activities and methods used in the field.

Instruction

Individual supervision, literature studies and seminars. Compulsory sections of the course are: start of the course, the written report, oral presentation of the project performed during a seminar that is officially announced by the department and a popular scientific presentation of the project through poster or oral presentation.

Assessment

Passing the course requires that the student has:

  • written an approved project plan
  • written an approved research report, including a popular compilation
  • provided an oral presentation including discussion and defence at a satisfactorily level
  • critically analysed another student's report and presentation (opposition).

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
