Entry requirements

Bachelor's degree of Science of at least 180 credits, including 90 credits in Chemistry

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • present theoretical knowledge necessary for studies at the advanced level within analytical chemistry
  • independently plan laboratory work and carry out risk assessment
  • evaluate experiments by means of established methods
  • keep laboratory record and write laboratory reports
  • give an error estimate in received analytical results
  • compare results from different methods

Content

Overview of spectroscopic and chromatographic methods theoretically and practically. Overview of relevant statistical methods.

Instruction

Lectures and/or seminars, laboratory sessions. Laboratory sessions are compulsory.

Assessment

Written examination is organised at the end of the course and correspond 5 credits. The laboratory sessions including presentations correspond 5 credits. The final grade is received such as a joining of the results of the written examination and the laboratory sessions.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method.
