General provisions
Replaces earlier course 3NR341 Advanced course in neuropharmacology.
Entry requirements
90 credits in medicine, biomedicine, pharmacy, science, engineering or psychology. A certificate from the director of studies, stating that a supervisor and a study plan are approved, is also required.
Learning outcomes
The project should give knowledge of the subject, knowledge of how to search scientific facts and practical experience of how to plan, carry out, interpret and report in a research-ethical way.
After the course the student is expected to:
- be able to search scientific literature
- show the ability to interpret and summarise scientific literature
- have knowledge of planning and implementation of a project in the subject area of neuroscience
- be able to describe methods, analyses and interpretation of data within the project
- be able to present the completed project in good written and oral form
- show knowledge of what research ethical norms and rules means
Content
The course is designed as a project that includes: practical work in close connection to ongoing research in neuropharmacology; compilation and analysis of results; search of scientific literature; oral and written presentation of the project.
Instruction
The studies take place under individual supervision and include literature studies, seminar exercises and practical work.
Assessment
The project shall be presented to subject experts at a seminar. It shall also be summarised in a report organised as a scientific article, which is the basis for the examination.
If special circumstances apply, the examiner can make exceptions from the stated exam method and decide that a student is assessed in a different way. Special reason can e.g. be a notice of special educational support from the coordinator of the university.
Other regulations
If handling of laboratory animals, education in Laboratory Animal Science (LAS) is required according to Swedish legislation.
