Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- find and evaluate information on wind power on the Internet
- describe the essential function of a wind turbine's components
- estimate the power production of a wind turbine
- perform a basic calculation of economic result for a wind turbine
- account for the regulations of the environment impacts in a casual way and describe the environmental impacts of wind power locally, nationally and globally
- describe the permission process of a wind power project briefly
Content
Basics of wind power, includes wind power development, technology, wind energy and grid connections.
Calculation methods for wind energy production and economic calculations, environmental impact, laws and regulations are studied.
A wind power project is described.
Instruction
The course is given as a net-based course. Assignments are submitted to the e-classroom on the Internet and the student is given personal feedback by the tutor. The course also includes other mandatory exercises. A forum for discussion is also available.
Assessment
Written hand-in assignments, and participation in other type of exercises, 6 credits.
A written project assignment , 1.5 credits.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
