Entry requirements
Good programming skills, corresponding to
Computer Programming, first and second course.
Mathematics, 15 ECTS, including Basic Algebra.
Aims
The course should give knowledge about declarative programming, especially programming with functions. Algorithms, especially for technical and scientific problems will be presented as computable functions.
Content
Functions, relations, lambda calculus, higher-order
functions. Programming in the functional
programming language ML. Similarities and
differences in relation to imperative programming
and logic programming. Lazy evaluation.
Instruction
Lectures, problem solving sessions and laboratory work.
Assessment
Written examination at the end of the course. Moreover, the compulsory laboratory work and assignments must be passed.
