Entry requirements
Professional degree in Physiotherapy. For students within the Physiotherapy Programme a minimum of 90 credit points including all courses in the subject Physiotherapy.
Aims
The course provides in-depth knowledge of pain physiology and knowledge of clinical consequences from persistent pain. The course also provides knowledge for determining treatment strategies and evaluation methods when treating patients with pain.
Content
Pain physiology and endogenic pain inhibition mechanisms. Consequences of pain. Methods to measure pain and treatement of pain. Physiotherapy strategies, physical and pharmacological treatment of acute and chronic pain. Cultural aspects of pain.
Instruction
This is a distance course. Tuition is in the form of lectures, seminars, and group work.
Assessment
Satisfactory completion of written examination, individual report and obligatory attendance of all seminars.
