The participant is expected to have completed courses Analytical Chemistry NV1, 10 points.
Aims
To give fundamental knowledge of chemometrical methods for planning and evaluation of chemical measurements.
Content
Chemometrics is the use of mathematical and statistical methods for handling experimental data in chemistry. Of special interest for chemical analysis are methods for experimental design and sampling, statistical interference and exploratory analysis, calibration, optimisation, signal processing and multivariate data analysis. In the course the role of computers is emphasised, and data programs are used for data acquisition and instrumental control, for mathematical and statistical calculations and for data analysis. Chemical experiments are performed where chemometrical methods are used in practice. Experimental data from environmental analysis, quality control and method development are also utilised.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars, laboratory work and demonstrations.
Assessment
Examinations is arragned during and/or at the end of the course. The reports from the laboratory work and projects must be passed. Passed laboratory work and project are assigned 6 points. Student who have failed a test have the right to take a new examination at the beginning of the autumn semester, after Christmas vacations and at the end of the spring semester.
