General provisions
The course is an elective course in the Bachelor's programmes Game Design and Graphics, 180 Credits, Game Design and Programming, 180 Credits, Game Design and Project Leadership, 180 Credits and Game Design, 180 Credits and Master programme in Game Design, 120 credits.
The course is open to students taking their 5th semester in the bachelor programmes, or 3d semester in the master´s programme.
Entry requirements
120 credits with 75 credits in Game Design including Game Production 2: Vertical Slice, 15 credits, -or- 45 credits in Game Design at the advanced/master's level.
In addition, an approved contract plan is required by the department.
Learning outcomes
The purpose of the course is to provide the student with opportunities to apply and develop theoretical knowledge as well as skills from their programme studies in a relevant work environment. After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- Display an ability to reflect on the experience acquired during the placement, in relation to the programme's theoretical parts.
- Describe the internship organization, its objectives and the work processes which are common in the workplace.
- Display an ability to constructively receive supervision and collaborate with a supervisor as well as other important contacts in the placement.
- Identify their own competence development needs.
Content
The course is composed of work placement within the game design sector. The work placement should offer varying tasks and experiences.
Instruction
The internship/traineeship can take place in the form of an internship placement (not employment) at a workplace within the Game Design sector. The student is responsible for securing an internship/trainee work placement. The student should have an appointed supervisor at the placement. The contract between workplace, student and the department should be signed by all parties before the start of the placement.
Presence is compulsory during the work hours that are defined by the work placement, within the framework of existing working hours act.15c work placement equals 400h (or 10 weeks full time studies).
Assessment
During the course, the student writes a work journal. After the placement, the student hands in the journal as well as a written report to the Course Responsible. The student will also hand in a certificate from the appointed supervisor at the work placement. The journal, the student's written report and supervisor's report are all used as grounds for examination.
Other regulations
The course cannot be in a degree together with Internship in Game Design, 30 credits, 5SD079.
