Entry requirements

Knowledge and achievements corresponding to Spectrochemical Methods, 7 credit points and Separation Methods, 8 credit points. All laboratory work in different courses in analytical chemistry have to be passed.

Aims

The course is intended to give knowledge about:

Practical experience about all steps in the analytical procedure from samplig to report of the result.

How different steps in the analytical procedure can be combined into automatical systems for online measurement.

Content

Methods and practical handling of the complete analytical procedure including: Sampling, sample reduction, sample dissolution and decomposition, extraction, fractionation, concentration, separation and final determination, where the final determination steps control choice of the sample preparation method. On educational visit to chemical companies sampling and sample preparation are studied. Documentation and reports are practised in both Swedish and English.

Compulsory moments: Course introudction, laboratory work, project and report.

Instruction

Lectures, seminars, laboratory work, demonstrations and visits to chemical companies. Training in oral and written reports in Swedish and English.

Assessment

Examination is arranged during and/or at the end of the course. The laboratory work must also be passed. Compulsory moments: Course introudction, laboratory work, projects, and study visits. The examination is equal to 6 points and the laboratory work and other compulsory moments 4 points.
