Aims

Provide knowledge of the properties of transition metals and their use in chemical syntheses. Training in handling transition metal complexes.

Content

The course is intended to provide knowledge of transition metal chemistry as well in organic as inorganic chemistry. Applications in organic chemistry such as catalytic hydrogenation, sigma-alkyl complexes, pi-olefin, pi-allyl complexes, carbene complexes, asymmetric catalysis. Applications in inorganic chemistry such as hydrolysis and thermolysis reactions in preparation of oxides, nitrides and metals.

Instruction

Lectures, lessons, laboratory work.

Assessment

Examination is arranged during and/or at the end of the course. The laboratory work must also be passed. Student who have failed a test have the right to take a new examination at the end of autumn semester, after Christmas vacation and at the end of the spring semester.
