The course can be taken after 80 points within the Natural Science Programme.
Aims
The course will provide knowledge of how research at a university department or in a chemistry company is organised and performed both conceptually and in practice.
Content
Under supervision of a research examinor, the student shall be informed of the objectives and methods within the different research projects at the department/company. The student shall be given possibilities to practically participate in research work under close supervision. The student shall participate in internal lecture and seminar series at the department and in other meetings where department-specific matters are discussed. The student shall study the theoretical background to one of the research projects. Suitable literature for this task is chosen by the research examinor in cosultation with the student.

Assessment
The research examinor designs and performs the examination of the theory work. The practical work shall be presented orally at the department/company. The practical work shall also be presented in a written report according to regulations provided by the programme coordinator. The mark pass is given after the theory has been approved by the research-examinor and the written report has been approved by the research examinor and the programme examiner.
