Aims
Basic knowledge of general and physical chemistry
as a preparation for the courses in Solid state
chemistry, Corrosion, Physical metallurgy,
Metallic materials and Ceramic materials. The
laboratory course should familiarise the student
with work in a chemical laboratory.
Content
Stoichiometry, chemical thermodynamics, chemical
equilibria, electrochemistry and chemical
kinetics.
Laboratory work: Solubility equilibria,
acid-base titrations and titration curves,
calorimetry, electrolytic conductivity,
electromotive force of chemical cells, reaction
kinetics, spectrophotometry.
Instruction
Lectures, lessons, laboratory work.
Assessment
Written examination at the end of the course. Passed laboratory course is also required. Practical exercises and laboratory work are assigned 1 point.
