Entry requirements
Materials Science III, Thermodynamics and statistical mechanics.
Aims
To give basic knowledge of electrochemical processes relevant in material
science applications such as corrosion, battery applications, solid material
syntheses etc.
Content
Basic concepts in electrochemistry. General introduction to electrochemistry, thermodynamics, electrode
kinetics, dynamic electrochemistry. Solid state electrochemistry, anodic
films, mass transfer by migration and diffusion, ionic conductors. Basic
electrochemical techniques. Syntheses of solid materials by electrochemical
methods.
Laboratory work: Experiments to illustrate selected parts of the theoretical
contents.
Instruction
Lectures, lessons, laboratory work.
Assessment
Written examination at the end of the course. Passed laboratory course and is also required and is assigned 1 point.
