Entry requirements
Knowledge and skills corresponding to the course Organic Chemistry 8 credit points.
Aims
Give knowledge and skills in methods for separation and purification in preparative organic chemistry. Knowledge and skills of spectroscopic methods for structure determination.
Content
Practical applications of methods for separation such as GC and HPLC. Methods of purification such as chromatography, distillation and recrystallisation. Spectroscopic methods for structure determination such as NMR, IR, UV and MS.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars and laboratory work. Training in oral presentations and written reports. Laboratory work, oral and written presentations are obligatory.
Assessment
Examination is arranged at the end of the course. The laboratory work and the written report must also be passed.
