Chemometrics (1KE741) or equivalent.

Aims

After the course the students shold be able to

-

identify experimental factors and analyse their influence on chemical measurement data and chemical systems with the use of analysis of variance (multiway and hierarhical ANOVA) and multiple linear regression (MLR)

-

plan and evaluate factorial and reduced factorial experiments

-

decribe strategies and apply methods for optimisation (response surface modelling, simplex)

-

describe and apply multivariate projection methods (PCA, PLS) for visualisation and empirical modelling (characterisation, classification and calibration)

-

use computer software for application of the chemometrical methods in problems within, e.g., industry, environmental monitoring and biology/medicin

Content

Chemometric methods for empirical modelling of chemical systems in, e.g., industrial, environmental and biological/medical applications. Special attention is given to exerimental design and multivariate data analysis.

Instruction

Lectures, seminars and laboratory work. Project work and assignments. Course introduction, seminars and laboratory work are obligatory.

Assessment

Written examination at the end of the course. Passed laboratory course and assignments are also required (assigned 2 points).
