General entry requirements

Aims

To give basic knowledge of the Baltic Sea ecosystem and the environmental conditions of the Baltic Sea. Special attention is given to problems with pollution and questions related to measures to be taken for the improvement of the environmental situation

Content

The course is subdivided into four subject areas:

Biology and geography

Eutrophication and sewage treatment

Industrial discharges and contaminants

Management by economical and legal means, co-operation

Instruction

This is an Internet based distance course with lectures, seminars, laboratory work during two weekends.

Assessment

Written exams during the course as well as an individual written report. A passing grade for the entire course requires passing grades for homeworks, project works and seminars.
