General entry requirements

Aims

The aim of the course is to bring general knowledge about the geological and ecological evolution in Fennoscandia, with particular emphasis on Sweden, during the Quaternary age.

Content

The geological processes forming the Quaternary landscapes. Development of soils and landforms. The Quaternary ice ages. The development of the climate, the vegetation, the fauna and humans during the Quaternary.

Instruction

Lectures, laboratory work, field work, and excursions.

Participance in laboratory work, field work and excursions are obligatory.

Assessment

Written examination in the end of the course. The pass the course it is neccessary to have passed the field work, laboratory work and excursion parts. Additional examinations are given at the start of the autumn term as well as at the start of the spring term.
