Feedback and automatic control.
Aims
To give knowledge on computer based control possibilities and limitations, and how to design and analyse effective control strategies.
Particular concern is devoted to:
- Multi-input multi-output systems
- Fundamental control limitations
- Systematic controller design based on optimisation
- Sensitivity and robustness of feedback systems
- Analysis of system with simple non-linearities
Content
Mathematical description of linear multivariable systems. Controllability and
observability. Stability. Description of disturbances. Controller synthesis. Sensitivity and robustness for multivariable systems. Theoretical limitations of performance. Linear quadratic theory and the separation theorem. The LTR approach. Robust loop shaping. Prediction control. Analysis of systems with simple nonlinearities.
Instruction
Lectures, lessons, tutorials and laboratory work. Non compulsory homework
Assessment
Written examination at the end of the course. Passed laboratory course is also required.
