including Linear algebra MN2.

Aims

To provide a deeper insight into linear algebra and to give an introdcution to some fundamental algebraic concepts.

Content

Complex vector spaces. Groups. Linear

representations of groups. Character theory,

Schur's lemma, the Fourier transform. An

introduction to the interrelation between the

structure of a group and its representations.

Instruction

Lectures and problem solving sessions.

Assessment

Written and, possibly, supplementary oral

examination at the end of the course. Moreover,

compulsory assignments may be given during the

course.
