Entry requirements
For admission to the course, 55 passed credit points are required. All oral, written and practical examinations in physiotherapy from earlier terms have to be completed with a pass. If the examination consists of a report, this report should be submitted before end of term and has to be accomplished with a pass the following term at the latest.
Aims
* The aim of the course is to provide deeper knowledge and skills within physical activity/physical training in persons within all age groups with circulatory, metabolic, respiratory, muskeloskelettala and neurological functional disorders.
* The knowledge gained should comprise examination of physical ability on functional, activity and participation level and implementation and evaluation of physical activity/physical training from a physiological and a behavioural perspective.
After completed course, the student should
* be able to lead and instruct physical training individually and in groups on land and in water.
* be able to use music as an aid in physical training
* be able to take a medical history, investigate, test, analyse, treat and evaluate physical capacity and physical activity level from a physiological perspective
* be able to investigate, test, assess and evaluate the patient's motivation, self-efficacy, stage of change and impediments for physical activity
* be able to theoretically and practically apply physiological and behavioural medicine methods to retain or increase the physical capacity and the activity level
* be able to analyse the physiological requirements for different physical activities
Content
* Theory and practice in leadership
* Knowledge of music as a tool for physical activity
* Theoretical and practical knowledge of planning, treatment, implementation and evaluation of physical ability and physical activity in physical disabilities
* Theoretical and practical knowledge of measurement of physical ability and physical activity
* Analysis of physiological requirements for different physical activities
Instruction
The teaching is given as lectures, seminars, literature studies, group assignments and study visits.
Assessment
* Active participation in proficiency training
* Passed oral and written assignments
* Passed written examination
Students who have not passed the examination are offered to sit for further examinations 4 times (=total of 5 examinations). If the student can adduce special reasons the programme committee can admit an additional examination. Every time the student actually sits for an examination will be counted as an examination. Submission of a so called blank test is counted as an examination.
