Aims
The aim of the course is to provide an
introduction to the history and theory of science,
particularly in the context of its role in society.
The course will also give practice in debating
current issues in this field.
Content
Ethics of research. Planning, conducting and reporting of research. Science and society: the relation of science to cultural, social, political and economical factors in scientific work.
Science Theory and Science History. Didactially oriented exercises in being intervjued by the media and in writing articles on technology, research and research ethics for the public.
Instruction
Lectures and seminars.
Assessment
Written exam at the end of the course and/or written reports. Practical exercises and laboratory work are compulsory. Resittings are arranged twice each year: at the end of the term and in August.
