Protein biotechnology I or similarly industrial experience

Aims

The course is a continuation of Protein biotechnology I and aims to provide knowledge about advanced analytical methods to characterise the final protein product.

Content

Analytical biotechnology, Multiangel light scattering. Biosensor technology (Surface plasmon resonance), Amino acid analysis, Mass-spectrometry (ESI-MS och MALDI-MS), capillary electrophoresis, analytical chromatography, Differential scanning calorimetry.

Laboratory lessons: Multiangel light scattering. Biosensor technology (Surface plasmon resonance), Amino acid analysis, Mass-spectrometry (ESI-MS och MALDI-MS), capillary electrophoresis, analytical chromatography, Differential scanning calorimetry.

A team-work: In this work a balanced judgement should be done of all the individual analysis methods and their results for a final characterisation of the product. The course moment has problem oriented character.

Instruction

Lectures, seminars and laboratory work.

Assessment

Written exam at the end of the course (2 points). The laboratory work, the oral and the written report of the team-work (3 points).
