Fundamental solid mechanics and Computer aided draft and drawing (CAD) or equivalent knowledge to these courses.
Aims
By taking this course, the student will acquire knowledge of common machine elements, their applications and calculation methodology.
Content
Design of screw joint reinforcement. Press and shrinkage fit. Cotter joint. Axis – axle calculation regarding static and dynamic load. Couplings.
Roller bearing. Plain bearing. Springs. Chain transmissions, belt friction and V-belt transmissions. Spur gearing, planetary gearing, continuously variable gears, hydraulic gearing, friction gearing and worm gear units. Mechanical movement simulation by Pro Engineer.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars, study tours, written assignments and possibly project work.
Assessment
The theory will be examined in form of seminar. Written assignments and project works must also be completed and passed.
