General provisions

The course is offered within the Master's Programme on International Humanitarian Action, 60 credits.

The Course plan was established on 2006-04-07 by the Faculty board of the Faculty of Theology and is valid from 2006-09-01.

Entry requirements

The course on Management is only available to students admitted to the NOHA programme.

Aims

The aim of the course is to give insights into the different areas of management relevant to both international health workers and disaster managers. The objectives for the course are that

students:

- will have a working knowledge of some areas of management and know how to

access relevant information in other management areas;

- will be familiar with some management approaches, methods and tools, and the

theories and literature underpinning these, and will experience some practice

with

these approaches in class;

- will also be aware of political and organisational influences on management generally

and decision-making specifically.

Content

The course covers the project cycle including project proposal, human resource management, logical framework, and evaluation.

Instruction

The course is taught and examined through lectures, seminars, individual assignments, and

group work.

Assessment

Grade: VG or G (Distinction or pass) as well as ECTS grades.

Language of instruction is English. International Maternal and Child Health (IMCH) and The Department of Women's and Children's Health offer the teaching.
