The University’s cultural offerings are an important resource for research and education, but also for visitors and Uppsala residents. The Uppsala University Museum (Gustavianum), the Museum of Evolution and the University’s other museums have unique history of science and art collections.

Music. Orchestras, choirs, big bands, rock bands, brass bands... Uppsala has a rich music scene for musicians and audiences alike. There are four academic choirs, for example, and several orchestras. The Royal Academic Orchestra was founded as early as 1627 and is one of Europe’s oldest orchestras.

The Linnaean Gardens of Uppsala are the oldest botanical gardens in Sweden. Here you will find thousands of plants, from the Nordic highlands to arid deserts and humid rain forests. Bizarre meat-eating monsters, delightful flowers, and nutritious vegetables and herbs...

Uppsala University Library provides information resources for research, teaching and learning at the University. The physical and digital libraries exist in parallel. The collections are made available in various ways, including electronic publishing and digitisation.

Academic traditions. Uppsala University has many old traditions – symbols and ceremonies that have lived on and are both a natural part of academic Uppsala today and an important part of our cultural heritage.
