You’re invited to a seminar that will plumb the expressive qualities of water. We meet on Thursday 12 September 2024 at Kultur vid Ekoln (Sandavägen3, Sunnersta).

Professor David Ricks (King’s College London) will speak on the theme of water in modern Greek poetry in which it emerges as threat and threatened. He is joined by fiction author and Associate Professor Barbara Barrow (Lund University) who will explore the creative and critical potential of the myth of Narcissus in the poetry of Emily Pauline Johnson or Tekahionwake. PhD student Elena De Wachter (Lund University) will share from her investigation of the pedagogical potential of the imagery of water in selected modern poetry. And cross-disciplinary artist,
researcher and soundwalker Jacek Smolicki (Uppsala University) will share with us his soundart featuring the polyvocal rhythms of water. Through attention to the unique properties of water and the poetics it inspires, this polyphonic and intermodal
seminar promises to be a magical event on the beautiful banks of Lake Ekoln.
