Institutet för utbildningsrätt (IfU) at the Faculty of Law, Uppsala University, cordially invites you to a webinar in education law on the topic:
Academic Freedom in the Age of AI and EdTech
The webinar will be led by Aušrinė Pasvenskienė, Associate Professor and Vice Dean at the Faculty of Law, Vytautas Magnus University, and visiting researcher at the University of Helsinki.
Welcome to a webinar on academic freedom in the digital era. As technology reshapes higher education, traditional notions of academic freedom are being challenged by new tools such as artificial intelligence and educational technology.
In this session, Aušrinė will examine how digitalisation is transforming research, teaching, and academic expression — highlighting both opportunities and risks. Topics include AI in academic writing, digital teaching materials, standardisation of academic output, and emerging tensions between innovation and pedagogical autonomy.
We will then open the floor for discussion, reflecting together on how to safeguard academic freedom while embracing the benefits of technological progress.
Aušrinė Pasvenskienė is Editor-in-Chief of the Baltic Journal of Law and Politics and Principal Investigator of the EU-funded project EU4UA. Her research focuses on education law, human rights, and digitalisation in education.
