SummaryThe project is a collaborative effort between the WOLF project and University of Ulm. Professor Richard Peter and his Group of Ulm University has earlier been involved in analyses of WOLF data as visiting researcher in Sweden in 1999 (Karolinska Institutet)Richard Peter was also, with Johannes Siegrist of the Düsseldorf University originator of the Work Overcommitment concept. In this project our aim is to address, exploiting longitudinal WOLF long-term development of personal datasets (4-year and 10-year follow up data), to clarify development over time of personal characteristics of WOLF subjects and their associations with the outcome variables Effort-Reward Imbalance, Work Overcommitment (WOC) (Siegrist and Peter 1996). and Zest for Work. ERI has during the recent years undergone changes in its construction implying a reduction of component elements. Personality and underlying personality factors as related to stress and mental strain at work have earlier not been approached for scientific analyses. The hypothesis of the present project is that personality factors may, in interacting with work and workplace factors contribute to generate a state of WOC. The related outcome variable Zest for Work, not earlier examined in WOLF dataset, will be explored in clarifying stability of personality factors underlying the WOC. To achieve this objective, WOLF longitudinal datasets are necessary.
