This application concerns a project with the aim of operating and developing a highly competitive neutron reflectometer, located at the best neutron reactor in the world: Institute Laue-Langevin (ILL). 70% of the time is reserved for Swedish users, while the remaining 30% is accessible for researchers in the ILL´s member states. The Super ADAM project is an important tool for increasing the expertise on neutron scattering, preparing for the utilisation of ESS. The access to the Super ADAM infrastructure is therefore granted on two premisses: scientific excellence and the need for training. Combined with the operation of the instrument, the project has a vivid outreaching activity, both for direct recruitment of users as well as to stimulate the interest for neutron scattering. The support includes also direct assistance for utilising other instruments at ILL as well as at ISIS and NIST.The Super ADAM instrument is the only neutron scattering facility owned by the Swedish Research community. The Super ADAM project is therefore an important component for strengthening the competence on neutron scattering within Sweden, both through the operation of the Super ADAM instrument as well as the promotion of utilisation of other sources and outreaching activities. This proposal directly involves Uppsala University, Linköping University and Lund University as the lead partners, but the aim is to involve other Swedish Universities as equal partners in the project.
