Schizophrenia - one disorder or several? Implications for research on disease mechanisms

Simon Cervenka’s research focuses on understanding the biology of psychosis with the purpose of finding new methods of diagnosis and treatment.
During this seminar we will hear about attempts to outline pathopysiological mechanisms using a combination of molecular imaging techniques and biomarkers. The challenge of disease heterogeneity will be discussed, including gender differences.

Gender identification and mental health among university students in Sweden
Hosted by the Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences
Anne H Berman’s current research concerns mapping of common mental disorders (CMDs) among university students as well as evaluating digital interventions for depression and anxiety for those with symptoms of CMDs, within the WHO-WMH-ICS initiative. She has also conducted research over the past decade on digital interventions to reduce the treatment gap for addictive behaviors. Anne is also President of the International Society of Behavioral Medicine (2021-2023).
During this seminar Anne will present the latest outcomes from the Swedish ICS survey, with a focus on gender.

Sex hormone functioning and disruption in neurodevelopment and mental health

Joëlle and Erikas research focus is how endocrine disrupting chemicals affect neurodevelopment and how sex hormones influence women´s mental health, respectively.
During this seminar we will hear about the importance of sex hormones for mental health and how interference with hormonal signalling by chemical exposure can affect neurodevelopment.
