Dr Richard Cloutier

Richard Cloutier is a vertebrate palaeontologist who studies the evolutionary biology of early vertebrates, often through phylogenetic reconstruction methods, multivariate statistical analyses, and geometric morphometrics. He specialises in the evolutionary radiations of gnathostomes and tetrapodomorphs and has extensively investigated the palaeobiology, palaeoecology, palaeoenvironments, biostratigraphy, and biogeography of the Upper Devonian Escuminac Formation from eastern Canada. Richard presently coordinates numerous research projects on an exceptional specimen of the tetrapodomorph Elpistostege watsoni.
