Högre seminarium: Emily Hofstetter

My PhD supervisor gave me very good advice: a reliable research strategy is to be a 'mole', and try to burrow deep into a niche. In contrast, to be a 'butterfly', and constantly change around, comes with trouble. As my title hints, I have ended up a butterfly. I research human interaction, but my projects vary broadly within that discipline.

In this talk, I will discuss adapting into my two current research projects. In the first, I moved into an interactional linguistics collaboration, where we examine non-lexical vocalizations and the role of the body in interaction. In the second, I am collaborating with cognitive scientists examining the effectiveness of a game in teaching about climate change through role-play.
