Congratulations, Dr. Ohlsson!

On November 30, our colleague Johanna Ohlsson successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled “On the Ethics of External States in Peacebuilding – A Critical Study of Justification”. Faculty opponent was Associate Professor Pamela Slotte (Helsinki University).  The Grading Committee consisted of Associate Prof Elisabeth Gerle (Lund), Prof Helena Lindholm (Gothenburg), and Prof Ruben G. Apressyan (Moscow). The defense was chaired by Professor Elena Namli (Uppsala).  The defense was open to the public and took place in the Main University Building, Hall IV at 10.15.

Ms. Ohlsson’s research is focused on the role of morality in political processes, primarily in foreign policy and in particular in relation to peacebuilding involvements. She holds a MA degree in Human Rights and a BA degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, both from Uppsala University. Johanna Ohlsson was a PhD candidate at the Institute for Russian and Eurasian Studies (IRES) and at the Faculty of Theology (in Ethics) at Uppsala University.
