Call for Nominations to the Hans Zetterberg prize

Uppsala University invites you to nominate one or several candidates for the Hans L. Zetterberg Prize in Sociology..

Hans Zetterberg (1927-2014) was a professor of sociology who during his career held
positions at Columbia University as well as Ohio State University.

In addition to his academic work, Zetterberg was also a publicist (who, among other things, published the English translation of Max Weber’s text Economy and Society) and served as the chair of WAPOR (World Association for Public Opinion Research) 1987-1988.

Starting in 2017, the Zetterberg Prize will be awarded annually, the first prize ceremony
taking place on May 29th at Uppsala University. The sum to be awarded is SEK 100 000
(currently about US$ 11,000/ € 10,000).

In selecting your candidates, please note the following statement by the Zetterberg family, which will guide the prize committee in their work.
“The prize is to be awarded yearly to a young researcher, Swedish or foreign, who, with his/her scientific work in sociology, preferably through the fruitful combination of theory and practice, has moved the research front forward. Through his/her published works, the nominee should have reached an acknowledged academic position but should not be at the end of his/her research career.”

The upper age limit for nominees is 40 years (the year the prize is awarded).
The nomination letter should be short and concise, and include a full CV. of the person you nominate.
The deadline for submitting nominations is March 15th 2017.
