Artificial intelligence (AI) creates both possibilities and risks for society. It is developing rapidly but at the same time there is a large knowledge gap amongst decision makers, the public, and surprisingly even among the developers themselves.

AI has created a new era for humanity, and its potential is enormous. At the same time, even expert researchers find it difficult to predict the consequences of AI. The main reason is that there is not enough mathematical theory on how neural networks function. During the spring, Max Tegmark and Elon Musk called for a pause in AI development. The whole society needs time to catch up! In this seminar, leading AI experts from both industry (Google) and academia (KTH & Uppsala University), as well as political stakeholders will engage in a discussion about understanding AI. They will show how AI works and discuss what we need to do to both take advantage of its opportunities as well as manage its risks from a broader societal perspective. The seminar will be mostly in English due to our international group of experts; however, the moderator can take questions in Swedish and give Swedish explanations upon request. Are you curious to know more about AI? Welcome to join our seminar!
