Teaching with Drama 

Those of us involved with language learning and literature are always looking for new and more responsive ways of teaching these subjects in keeping with our times. In this conference, we want to explore the uses of drama as a pedagogical tool for student engagement in the classroom as well as language proficiency. The theme of drama also resonates with 2025 Göteborg Book Fair. Note that this faculty conference is not about the teaching of drama, but of using drama in the widest possible sense for teaching languages and their literatures. Special guests are Erika Piazzoli (Trinity College) and Per Esben Svelstad (NTNU), visiting scholar at the Department of English, January-March 2025. Erika specialises in performative language teaching, specifically second language education through the arts. Per Esben is a comparative literature teacher and researcher in a teacher education department, specializing in among other things, ecocriticsm and queer literature.
