A common experience for many teachers is that students struggle with using and applying their knowledge from maths courses in other courses of their degree program. Why is that? What can we do to help students? What can research tell us?
In this seminar, we will discuss the challenges associated with connecting physical phenomena to mathematical models, what roles mathematics play in other STEM disciplines, as well as discuss pedagogical approaches that can help students navigate between mathematics and other disciplines.
