Mål

The aims of the course are to introduce students to organisational theory and to the relationship between organisational and communication theory and to communication as a managerial tool. After completed course, the students should have

Knowledge and Understanding

- knowledge about general organisational theory

- understand the basic principles underlying organisational behaviour and performance

an awareness of the role and importance of communication in organisations

Skills and capacitites

- good knowledge of basic communication means in an organisational context

- the capacity to draw up a communication strategy for an organisation

- the ability to carry out an international business negotiation

Evaluative capacity and approach

- recognize the possibilities and limits of organisational communication

- appreciate ethical and intercultural aspects of organisational communication

Innehåll

The course consists of lectures and seminars, devoted to the course literature and to current research. Practical exercises in negotiations and conflict solving are carried out. Each student writes two short memos on assigned parts of the course literature.

Undervisning

The course runs during a five week-period and encompasses lectures and seminars amounting to approx 6 hours a week. In principle, lectures are optional but seminars are compulsory. In addition to scheduled teaching , students are required to prepare themselves for seminars and exercises and to orally present their memos on seminars.

Examination

Written and/or oral examination. Fulfilled seminar assignements.Written exams can be take-home ones. The grading system has three grades:VG (Väl godkänd, Passed with Distinction), G (Godkänd, Passed) and U (Underkänd, Failed)
