Syfte

The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge about the EC and the EU from the institutional as well as the material points of view. The course includes the study of formal as well as material EC Law. The following issues are given special consideration: - The aims and principles of the EC Treaties, the competence of the EC and EU - Institutions and acts of the institutions, the role of the Court of Justice - Material rules, mainly the internal market and competition - The external relations of the EC - The Second (foreign and security policy) and Third (co-operation in justice and home affairs) Pillars of the EU.

Examination

The examination is a take home exam. The grade on the exam accounts for the credits of the course. Your active constructive participation in discussions and debates is required.
