Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, a student will be able to:
- Manage, describe, document and evaluate a digital graphics project,
- explain basic technical aspects of digital effect productions, as well as various forms of graphic user interface (GUI),
- demonstrate basic knowledge and skills in compositing image, text and sound using Adobe After Effects or equivalent software, and
- demonstrate basic technical and artistic knowledge in rendering and compressing several layers of graphic elements in digital games through compositing for interaction design.
Content
The course provides basic knowledge of effect production (post production) with moving image sequences using a software
such as Adobe After Effects. The students develop skills in producing interaction design for computer games using
animated 2D computer graphics. The course includes the practical steps of production from idea and interface design to application.
Instruction
The course is taught in English.
The course consists of lectures and workshops with project assignments under supervision.
Assessment
Examination is in the form of 2D graphic productions, presentations and a final reflective report describing the connection between theory, method and expression. The grade in the course is in the form of Pass with distinction, Pass or Fail. To achieve the grade Pass, all assignments, presentations and the final reflective essay need a Pass. For the grade Pass with distinction it is also required that the student demonstrates understanding of the theoretical parts of the course by applying these in the final assignments and the written reflection.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
Uppsala University does not accept cheating or plagiarism. Suspected incidents of cheating or plagiarism are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, which may issue a formal warning to the student or suspend the student from studies for a certain period.
NOTE: Only completed courses can count toward a degree.
