Learning outcomes

After having completed this course students will be able to:

• identify and suggest solutions for problems and risks within project plans and schedules
• perform and evaluate detailed analyses of costs and financing for a project’s entire lifetime
• explain which commercial and legal contracts as well as the financial documents that are needed for the construction and operation of wind power projects
• identify and recommend key contractual features and arrangements for a project over its lifetime
• evaluate the value of wind power within the energy system

Content

The course includes work with scheduling and planning of wind power projects. How to account for potential issues and provide solutions for both common and unexpected events within this scheduling will be introduced. The course will also describe how to develop a cost and a financing framework for a wind project’s different phases, from concept to decommissioning. Included in this framework the key financial documents as well as contracts required at the different phases will be identified and evaluated. Additionally the overall role of wind power in the energy system will be evaluated.

Written hand-in assignments and active participation in seminars 3 credits.

Written and oral presentation of project work 2 credits.
