Entry requirements

120 ECTS credits with Mathematics, 30 ECTS credits including linear algebra, and computer science, 45 ECTS credits,

including a second course in programming, and a first course in algorithms and data structures.

Learning outcomes

In order to pass, the student must

  • be able to develop correct, stable, maintainable and efficient software,
  • have experience of the process of creating such software,
  • be able to test, debug and optimise programs,
  • be able to use suitable software developing tools.

Content

Techniqies and methods for developing correct, stable, maintainable and efficient software. Documentation as semi-formal specifications of programs. Code and memory profiling as a support for program optimizing. Software developing aids.

The students carry out a project in which a non-trivial program is developed from a specification. Also included is code-inspection and method-based testing of the other students' program to verify its quality.

Instruction

Lectures, laboratory exercises as part of a larger project.

Assessment

Exercises that are parts of the project (7 credits). Written take-home exam at the end of the course (3 credits). Voluntary written exam for higher grades.

This course cannot be included in a degree together with Methods of programming DV2 (1DL005, 1DL122, 2AD513, 2AD511).
