Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student should be able to appreciate what questions/problems string
theory is an answer to and get the general idea when reading the basic research papers that introduced and developed the bosonic string theory.

Relativistic point particle. Relativistic string. World sheet currents. Light cone formulations. Basic string quantisation.
