General provisions

The course is included in the Radiology Technition programme, term 4, and includes 7.5 credits for theory.

Entry requirements

Passed courses from term 1 as well as 15 credits from term 2.

Learning outcomes

After the Scientific method course, student should be able to:

  • Describe different parts of the research process and statistical methods at a basic level
  • Understand and describe as well as concretise scientific concepts, research-ethical principles, common examples of statistical tables and compilations.
  • Understand, describe and use scientific articles as references, which comprises searching and identifying relevant scientific articles. Also, to be able to summarise and refer to those scientific articles.
  • Understand and describe as well as use his/her knowledge in scientific method and statistics in article reviewing and developing assignments.

Instruction

Lectures, group work, individual work, seminars

Compulsory parts of the course: Introduction to course's/modules, scheduled group meetings, seminars, practical exercises, written assignments/essays and examination

Assessment

Examination is done continuously throughout the course in form of written and oral assignments both individually and in groups. All the components of the course and a written final examination must be approved before the course is completed.
