Entry requirements

A Bachelor's degree of 180 Swedish credits points in engineering, natural or social science.

Learning outcomes

After approved course the student should be able to:

  • give an account of and analyse energy sources and their sustainability
  • identify and explain a wind power project's phases
  • identify and evaluate factors affecting wind energy development
  • analyse the siting conditions for wind power development
  • clearly present an individual or group assignment within wind power in oral or written form

Content

The course includes studies of sustainable development and energy sources. Basic mathematical and physical concepts will be covered. An introduction to prerequisites for wind power development including how a wind turbine works, planning for wind energy, environmental impact, location and economic aspects will be given. The phases of wind power projects is studied. Oral and written presentations in a scientific context will be discussed and practiced in the course. A site study visit to an operating wind farm is included.

Instruction

The course includes lectures, seminars, group and field work. Student attendance is compulsory at scheduled events.

Assessment

Written hand-in assignments, seminars and oral presentations. 5 credits.
