Accepted to the Master Programme in Social Analysis of Economy and Organisation.
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to train students to identify and gain an overview of central research questions within the field of economic history.
After the course the students will be expected to:
- demonstrate proficiency in carrying out an extensive literature review in relation to a specific question or theme within economic history.
- demonstrate proficiency in how to present large bodies of scientific literature in a systematic way.
- demonstrate proficiency in critically identifying and reflecting on problems in existing research fields in economic history.
Content
The student will select research areas and literature for the review, and individually read and organise the material; the results are to be presented in the form of a written text. The review can be used in the Master's thesis.
Instruction
The course instruction will comprise direct student and tutor meetings, interspersed with Internet contact.
Assessment
The course is examined in two steps:
- A submitted literature review
- A critical seminar discussion of the student’s own literature review and those of other course participants.
Ranked grades are given for the course.
