Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Natural or Social Science and Introduction to Wind Power, 5 credits, or equivalent knowledge

Learning outcomes

After having passed the course the student should be able to:

  • draw conclusions and apply spatial planning in wind energy development
  • analyse and apply rules, regulations and permissions related to wind energy development
  • analyse environmental impacts of wind energy utilisation, opposing interests and acceptance of wind power projects
  • suggest and analyse financial incentives related to wind power projects
  • design and execute a consultation meeting based on current research findings and industry experience

Content

The course covers spatial planning for wind energy development and wind power projects. Local, regional and national laws and permits are studied conceptually as to their influence on project success, with stress on the importance of good communication and acceptance among all stakeholders. Financial incentives and environmental considerations are evaluated for their potential effects in planning and on-schedule project execution. A role play of a consultation meeting for a proposed wind farm will be enacted.

Instruction

The course includes lectures, seminars, role play, group and field work. Student attendance is compulsory at most scheduled events.

Assessment

Written hand-in assignments, role play and oral presentation, 2.5 credits. Written examination, 2.5 credits.
