Content
The course provides an overview of the research field of masculinity studies. Focusing on central methods and theoretical approaches in masculinity studies, the course investigates shifting meanings of masculinity, sex, and gender over time and space, and also explores how these critical concepts relate to each other. The relation of masculinity studies to other fields within the framework of gender studies is also addressed.
Instruction
Course instruction involves a series of obligatory on-campus seminars.
Language of instruction is English.
Assessment
Continuous assessment of oral and written assignments, including a final paper. All essays will undergo a plagiarism check.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
Transitional provisions
The course Masculinities replaces the course Masculinities 5GN008. Only one of these courses can be included in a Master's degree.
